From experience, they know which aspects of the project are more likely to have a problem and they try and stay on top of those issues, drawing on their prior background to organize solutions if needed.  Solving problems, whether unknown, or expected is another reason to consider a good General Contractor rather than yourself.  You might be an excellent problem solver but without experience, some of the problems that take place frequently in construction will likely be difficult to solve.


Of course, you can ask the workers to help you and sometimes that works.  Other times, that frustrates the workers because they feel like they are doing someone else’s job and if they end up having to do additional work, the extra cost they charge often reflects their frustration.
