This time is typically divided into three segments. The first is the length of time to develop the plans to your satisfaction. The second is the length of time to complete all special services and the last segment is the length of time for the community organization to review the plans and a permit issued.
The length of time to develop plans to your satisfaction comprises not only how long it takes the plan developer to actually draw your plans (draw does not imply by hand as most plan developers use computer programs) but also how long it takes for changes to be incorporated. Most plan developers will present you with a floor plan first and allow you to make changes until the floor plan meets your requirements. Sometimes a fixed number of changes are allowed for a set price, other times no maximum number of changes is specified but to preserve a good working relationship with your plan developer, we recommend making every effort possible to keep the number of times the plan must be changed to a minimum. Most plan developers will request some written acknowledgement that the floor plan or complete plans meet with your approval such as your signature on the plans.
